(english) I have fun with the chocolate mousse

This recipe for dark chocolate mousse is the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s easy to prepare, tastes great and you can make it a day or so in advance.
(A French friend gave this recipe to me, instead I found the recipe for white chocolate mousse in a magazine)

Ingredients  for dark chocolate mousse   (serving 6) (cooking time about 30 minutes)

300 g strong dark eating chocolate
6 eggs
pinch of salt

Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water (don’t let the bowl touch the water). Stir until melted. Remove bowl from heat and set aside to cool slightly. In the meantime, add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whisk  until thickened. Place yolks in a large bowl and beat with electric beaters until mixture is pale, thick and doubled in volume. Fold the yolks into the chocolate mixture, trying to keep the mixture as light as possible, then add the egg whites.

Ingredients for white chocolate mousse:
300 g white chocolate
1 dl  thickened cream
3 egg whites

Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Stir until melted. Remove bowl from heat and set aside to cool slightly. In the meantime, add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whisk  until thickened. Place cream in a bowl and beat with electric beaters until thickened. Fold the cream into the chocolate mixture, trying to keep the mixture as light as possible, then add the egg white.

Spoon dark chocolate mousse into 6 serving glasses and put 1 or 2 tbsp white chocolate mousse, cover with more dark chocolate mousse you can combine the mousse as you prefer and then chill in fridge for at least 2 hour.

  1. I am going to make that for Max’ birthday.
Can it be used inside a cake as well – Like within the cake layers?🙂
    and together with strawberries?

      1. Dear Mariantonietta,
        the cake became beautiful,
with chocolate cake layers, with white chocolate mousse,
        and fresh strawberries and raspberries🙂
